Organisers of the African Energy Week (AEW) have entered into a pact with global market intelligence group IHS Markit under which the latter would support and strengthen energy-related dialogue at the annual energy summit.

African Energy Chamber (AEC) announced in a statement on Wednesday that the multi-year agreement would see IHS Markit taking on “a proactive role to lead important energy related discussions in Africa together with the AEC during the 2022, 2023 and 2024 editions of the AEW event.”

“Specifically, the information provider will moderate panels on key topics, backed by fundamental top-notch research and present technical sessions at AEW,” the organisers said.

The sessions would be based on key issues driving energy globally such as recent discoveries of oil and gas and what they could mean for development of the countries in question; the benefits and limitations of infrastructure-led exploration; and current efforts to decarbonise oil production in Africa.

In addition to the technical sessions, IHS Markit is expected to offer training analytics workshops on price formulation.

The 2022 edition of AEW is scheduled to take place from October 18-21 in Cape Town.

AEW 2022 is an interactive exhibition and networking event that seeks to unite African energy stakeholders, drive industry growth and development, and promote the continent as a destination for investment in the energy sector.

The four-day high-level conference, comprising networking sessions, innovative exhibitions and one-on-one private meetings, is expected to draw industry delegates, movers and shakers and African and global industry leaders and speakers from the energy, oil and gas sector.
