A high-level delegation from the African Union (AU) has completed a three-day assessment to check if eSwatini is suitable to host the secretariat for the Africa Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

The team lead by Rosette Nyirinkindi Katungye toured the Sibekelo Building where the secretariat will be housed, and also the recently-opened Hilton Garden Inn which may house guests during related international events.

The delegation was also shown the MTN office park where they learnt about how integrated the society was in terms of communication.

The AU team also met with King Mswati III at the Mandvulo Grand Hall on Sunday for a private discussion.

Other countries that are contesting to host the offices are Madagascar, Kenya, Ethiopia, Ghana, Senegal and Egypt.
