    Cameroon: SODECOTON denies GMO introduction

    The Cotton Development Corporation (SODECOTON) in Cameroon has officially denied the use of Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs) in cotton cultivation.

    "SODECOTON denies the information that GMO cultivation is part of its programme," the corporation declared in a press release.

    "SODECOTON has developed non-GM varieties that are satisfactory,” the release added.

    With an annual production of around 260,000 tonnes, SODECOTON recently launched a vast modernisation programme, under which it plans to produce 600,000 tonnes of cotton per year by 2025.
