Consumer price inflation within UEMOA increases

APA-Dakar (Senegal) By Massamba Sall

Consumer prices in the countries of the West African Economic and Monetary Union (UEMOA) recorded a year-on-year increase of 0.2 percent at the end of March 2019, APA learned on Monday from the Central Bank of West African States (BCEAO).

This comes against the backdrop of a 0.2 percent decrease in February 2019.

According to the issuing institute, this acceleration reflects the rise in the prices of certain food products, particularly vegetables and fisheries products in Benin and Senegal.

The observed rise in the general level of consumer prices is also due to higher prices for food, health and leisure services.
