U.S. multinational IBM defines blockchain as a shared, unalterable ledger that facilitates the process of recording transactions and tracking assets in a business network.
An asset, it said, can be tangible (a house, a car, money, land) or intangible (intellectual property, patents, copyrights, trademark).
Practically, added the company present in the fields of computer science and software, anything of value can be tracked and exchanged in a blockchain network. This reduces the risks and costs for all parties involved, according to IBM.
