Togo: ECOWAS sends three experts to support CENI

The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has recruited, in relation to upcoming elections in Togo, two electoral experts and an expert in constitutional law who are started work on Monday, APA learned from official sources.

According to the statement of endorsing Sunday’s work of the roadmap monitoring committee for a way out of the crisis, the three experts were presented to the stakeholders in the dialogue, as well as their terms of reference.

The source said the constitutional expert will have to consult both sides, and make a synthesis of their proposals, for the country’s National Assembly for adoption of the reforms.

The electoral experts will also support the Independent National Electoral Commission (CENI) in its new composition, in organizing the upcoming elections.

These are the legislative elections to be held on December 20, according to the timetable defined by CENI, and the local elections coupled with a referendum scheduled for December 16.
