Liberia records first case of Coronavirus

According to government spokesman, Information Minister Lenn Eugene Nagbe, the patient, is Nathaniel Blama, Director General of the Environmental Protection Agency, who reportedly returned home on Friday, March 13, 2020 following a visit to Switzerland.

In  apparent response to this development,  President George Manneh Weah  has banned travels to and from countries that have recorded more than  200 cases of the virus. 

The  Liberian leader has also mandated the Civil Service Agency to lay off  all non-essential staffs working in government, and  banned public  gatherings until further notice.

The  Liberian Leader has at the same time called off the county tour he was  supposed to embark this month and called on all public institutions to  use preventive measures and healthy people to stay away from sick people  to prevent the virus from spreading,
