Mali: Inclement weather forces reschedule of PM’s Kidal trip

    APA-Bamako (Mali)

Inclement weather has forced Mali’s Prime Minister Soumeylou Boubeye Maiga to defer his trip to Kidal from Thursday to Friday.

The Malian presidency said the postponement of the visit is made following a sandstorm a few hours before Maiga and his entourage was  due to arrive.

Kidal was the target of a mortar fire in which five French soldiers were slightly injured earlier on Thursday.

In a statement, the MINUSCA condemned the attack, which it fears could hinder the latest positive developments symbolized by the Prime Minister's visit to Kidal, which is seen as a strong inclination toward peace and reconciliation in Mali.

The Prime Minister began a tour of Mali’s north and central regions including the city of Tessalit, in the Kidal area.
