Manu Dibango to sponsor Cameroon music contest

    APA-Douala (Cameroon)

Renowned saxophonist Manu Dibango is the godfather of a national music competition called "MÜTZIG STAR", APA learned Thursday from the organizers of the event.

Two days after celebrating his 84th birthday in Paris, France, the icon of African music will perform in a show later Thursday night in Douala.

According to the organizers, the famous saxophonist intends to "be in communion with the attendees, and send a message of encouragement to the young musicians so that they understand that the only way towards success is hard work.”

Manu Dibango is currently visiting his home-country Cameroon, as part of a humanitarian tour targeting the patients at Laquintinie Hospital in Douala.

Prior to performing in Douala, the saxo-player will host a press conference at Laquintinie hospital to explain his commitment to humanitarian activities aimed at upgrading care in some hospitals in Cameroon.
