Zimbabwe’s President Robert Mugabe left Harare on Friday night for the United Nations World Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction that kicks off in the Mexican city of Cancun next week.

The two-day conference will be held from 22 to 23 May in Cancun and is expected to draw 400 experts and government representatives.

The conference is expected to provide a new set of guidelines to improve early warning systems and measure their effectiveness.

Held once every two years, the conference brings together heads of state and government, disaster risk management experts and relief agencies.
