South African President Cyril Ramaphosa is in Nairobi attending the funeral service of former President Mwai Kibaki in the Kenyan capital on Friday.
Kibaki died 21 April at the age of 90, and the ceremony is being held at Nyayo National Stadium.
His career saw him serve as Kenya’s vice president from 1978 to 1988 under President Daniel arap Moi.
He became president from 2002 to 2013 after succeeding Moi who, in turn, had succeeded President Jomo Kenyatta, the country’s first and founding president who died in 1978.
International Relations and Cooperation Minister Naledi Pandor is accompanying Ramaphosa to the funeral ceremony.
