South Africa’s talented Soweto Gospel Choir has scooped its third Grammy Award during a colourful ceremony held in Los Angeles, United States on Monday, press reports have said.

The group won the award in the category for Best World Music Album for their album called Freedom, the reports said.

In 2006 and 2007, the Soweto-based group won Grammy awards in the category for Best Traditional World Music Album and in December, the choir joined Beyoncé on stage at the Global Citizen Festival in Johannesburg, singing a Zulu rendition of the song Halo.

Another South African group, Ladysmith Black Mambazo, has also won a Grammy for its music in the recent past.
