    Senegal: Public wage bill increases

    Senegal’s public wage bill increased by 6.3 billion CFA francs (about $10.710 million) at the end of May 2018 compared to the same period in 2017, the Ministry of Economy, Finance and Planning announced Thursday.

    The country’s wage bill stood at 55.60 billion CFA francs against 49.30 billion CFA francs in May 2017, an increase of 12.8 percent in relative value.

    On a monthly basis, there was an increase of 1.4 percent, from 54.9 billion CFA francs in April 2018 to 55.60 billion CFA francs one month later.

    This is related to the number of civil servants, which has increased by 7.3 percent to 133,129 from 124,122 in May 2017.

    On a monthly basis, the number of staff increased slightly by 0.6 percent or from 132,377 in April 2018 to 133,129 a month later.
