Senegalese primary sector up 15.1pc in November

    APA-Dakar (Senegal)

The activity of the primary sector (excluding agriculture and forestry) in Senegal rose by 15.1 percent in a monthly change in November 2017, APA learned on Friday from the Directorate of Forecasting and Economic Studies (DPEE).

However, compared to October 2017 when there was a sharp increase of 33.3 percent, the primary sector recorded a contraction of 18.2 percent.

DPEE links the increase in this sector to the good performance of fishery landings, as well as the controlled production of meat, which recorded an increase of 33 percent and 11.8 percent respectively.

Over one year, a 20.9-percent increase in the activity of the primary sector was observed during the period under review, in relation with the livestock sub-sector (+ 18 percent) and fishery landings (+ 36.3 percent).
