    South Africa's Banyana retain COSAFA trophy

    South Africa’s national team, Banyana Banyana, have won the 2018 COSAFA Women's Championship crown after defeating Cameroon 2-1 at the Wolfson Stadium in Port Elizabeth in Eastern Cape Province.

    The South Africans claimed their fifth title with a 2-1 victory on Saturday.

    Striker Refiloe Jane scored the opener for Coach Desiree Ellis' charges just before half-time.

    However, Cameroon's Edith Ngo Mbeleck equalised in the 66th minute.

    It wasn't over for the reigning champions, however, as Jane completed a brace in stoppage time to seal victory for South Africa.

    Banyana Banyana won all their five matches leading to the title after defeating Madagascar 2-1, beating Botswana 1-0, walloping hapless Malawi 6-0, brushed aside Uganda 2-0 before taking on Cameroon in a thrilling final.

    Throughout the tournament the hosts scored 13 goals and conceded only two.
