    APA-Juba (South Sudan)

The South Sudan National Football Team (Bright Stars) arrived in the Kenyan town of Kakamega on Sunday to take part in the 2017 Council for East and Central Africa Football Associations (CECAFA) Senior Challenge Cup.

The Bright Stars boys are in Group B alongside Uganda, Burundi, and Ethiopia.

They will face Ethiopia at Bukhungu Stadium on Tuesday.

Newly-appointed coach Abdulraham Rajab has released the Bright Stars squad list for the CECAFA Cup.

Despite a few big names missing, the squad is full of experience and young talent. The squad features 10 players each from Sudan and South Sudan, which includes 3 players from outside Juba.

Legendary goalkeeper Juma Genaro will captain the team, with players such as Atak Lual, Dominic Abui and Khamis Leon providing key experience.

Young stars Chol Peter and Joseph Celestino will be looking to continue their impressive form at national team level, with Jimmy Arosto and Isaac Maatia set to add some pace to the team.

One of the most exciting additions to the squad is highly-rated defender Atef Mustafa, who is finally due to make his South Sudan debut. The 24 year-old is currently playing for Al-Wadi SC Nyala FC in Sudan and will be a key part of the Bright Stars defence.

Notable absentees include Athir Thomas, James Moga and Peter Dusman, who were not selected due to club commitments, as well as Aluk Akech and Robert Wurube, who are missing due to family reasons.
