UN seeks US$30m for Mozambique flood response

APA-Maputo (Mozambique) — United Nations agencies and other humanitarian groups in Mozambique on Monday launched a US$30.1-million response and recovery proposal to meet the needs of more than 160,000 people affected by floods in the country’s Zambézia province.

Mozambique jails policeman for releasing poachers

APA-Maputo (Mozambique) — Mozambique’s Central Office for the Fight against Corruption (GCCC) has said a police officer attached to the border services in the southern province of Gaza has been jailed to a year’s imprisonment for extorting a bribe from a group of poachers before realising them.

Malawi floods death toll rises to 276 – UN

APA-Lilongwe (Malawi) — A report from the United Nations Disaster Assessment Committee (UNDAC) has revealed that about 276 people have been killed and several others are missing due to heavy rains and flooding in Malawi.
