APA-Lomé (Togo)

A decree on the organization and operation of a National Fund for the Development of Sports (FONADES) in Togo, was adopted at a council of ministers meeting on Wednesday, APA learned on Thursday in Lomé.

FONADES, which has management autonomy, aims to mobilize and manage the financing of physical and sports activities, and provide material and financial support for sports in Togo.

The council of ministers recalled, in a statement, that FONADES’s launching is a result of the reforms initiated by the Ministry of Sports, which has “approved the National Sports Policy and adopted the law on the charter of physical and sporting activities.

“The objective of these texts is to contribute to the social and economic development of our country through the promotion of sports, through the establishment of a mechanism for mobilizing the resources necessary for the development of sport, in line with the provisions of the said law,” the statement added.
