    Torrential rains collapse Niger homes

    APA-Niamey (Niger)

At least one hundred houses collapsed in Tahouan in central Niger following floods caused by heavy rains on Sunday.

The floods affected several districts of Tahoua, including the residential quarters of Nassarawa, and also other areas with mud houses.

No human casualties were reported so far, although the damage is said to be significant.

The victims are being accommodated by wealthier relatives, whose neighbourhoods were not flooded.

According to witnesses, Tahoua had witnessed heavier rains before, but none caused such extensive damage.
