In the new cabinet list seen by the African Press Agency on Tuesday morning, Prime Minister Paul Kaba Thiéba keeps his post, while the President Roch Marc Christian Kabore leaves the Defense ministry.

Jean-Claude Bouda, former Minister of Youth and Vocational Training, is to be in charge for Defense and Veterans Affairs, a position held since 2011 by the various Burkinabe heads of state .

One of the new nominees to the new cabinet is Nicolas Meda entrusted with the ministry of Health.

Simon Compaore, a very influential figure of the ruling majority, keeps his status of Senior minister in the government headed by Thiéba, and minister of Security. He however leaves the Territorial Administration and Decentralization minsitry to the new cabinet member Simeon Sawadogo.

The minister of Higher Education Pr Filiga Michel Sawadogo is replaced by Alkassoum Maïga, a new comer.

The minister of Posts and Digital Economy, Aminata Congo is replaced by another Mrs. Hadja Fatimata Ouattara Sanon.

Pr Alfa Oumar Dissa keeps Energy department but hands over the Mines and Quarries sector to new member Oumarou Idani.

The new cabinet is made up of 32 members, including two ministers of State and four secretaries.

Announced between late January and early February, this cabinet reshuffle was expected by many Burkinabe.
