CAF President Ahmad Ahmad, who is currently in Ghana, on Wednesday paid a courtesy call on President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, who called on the federation to help develop young football talents on the continent.
Ahmad's visit was to officially inform President Akufo-Addo of the CAF awards being held in Accra. Akufo Addo will grace the Award ceremony.
Ahmad was accompanied by CAF first vice president Kwesi Nyantakyi and other members of the CAF executive, which is in charge on continental football.
Meanwhile, the Ghanaian sports community is fired up for the ceremony, although no Ghanaian had been nominated for the ultimate prize, which is the “African player of the year” category.
Nominated for the award are Egyptian mid-fielder Mohamed Salah and his Liverpool teammate Sadio Mane of Senegal, as well as Gabonese forward Pierre Emerick Aubameyang.
The three have arrived in Accra for the ceremony, and are expected to address the press late in the afternoon before the event.
