Ivorian army's border outpost raided

APA - Abidjan (Cote d’Ivoire)

An Ivorian army position in the north of the country near the border with Burkina Faso has been attacked in the early hours of Thursday, leaving several people dead.

According to a military source “the position of the Ivorian army located in Kofolo (140 km from Ferkessedougou) on the road to Kong, was attacked “around 04:00 GMT.

“We have registered several victims in our ranks. There are deaths and injuries, but we are in the process of cross-checking the information. We cannot tell you more,” the same source told APA.

The source said it is still unclear if terrorism is to blame for the attack.

A few days ago, a terrorist plot was foiled in the far north of Cote d'Ivoire thanks to cooperation between the Ivorian and Burkinabe armies.
