More than 1300 Gambian pilgrims in Saudi Arabia

    APA-Banjul (The Gambia)

As many as 1311 Gambian pilgrims have joined Muslims from around the world for the annual pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia.

The third and last flight of Flynas, a Saudi-based airline contracted by the Gambia International Airlines (GIA), left Banjul for Mecca on Saturday with 437 pilgrims.

GIA commercial director Aminata Ndure told APA on Saturday that all pilgrims have arrived in Saudi Arabia and started performing their rites. She described GIA’s handling of this year's Hajj operations as “smooth, efficient and timely”.

The cost of this year's Hajj trip was 210,000 Gambian dalasis (equivalent to 2475 US dollars) and it covers all Hajj expenses, including hotel accommodation and the cost of the sacrificial ram by every pilgrim on Edul-Adha.
