Mutinous soldiers continue to display in northern Cote d’Ivoire

APA-Bouake (Cote d’Ivoire)

At 12 noon local time on Friday, the suburbs of Bouake in northern Cote d’Ivoire were still in the hands of defiant soldiers, while passengers and vehicles were ordered to park, APA observed in Cote d’Ivoire’s second largest city.

Hundreds of commercial vehicles and passengers were asked to wait in the parking lot of the southern corridor by mutinous soldiers who still control the different exit ways of the city.

Only the luckiest passengers, those leaving for Bouake were allowed to embark on motorbikes to enter the city center. Many passengers, visibly shocked by the situation they had no clue about and bound for the north of the country and neighboring countries were forced to wait.

According to several sources, the Minister of Defense and several government officials were due in Bouake within the next few hours.
