MTN Eswatini has made history by being the first African company to receive a Platinum Award from Investors in People (IIP).
IIP a standard for people regulated in the United Kingdom, monitors people management and also offers accreditation to organisations that adhere to the Investors in People Standard.
Speaking during the celebration of the achievement at the MTN Headquarters on Friday, MTN CEO Sibusiso Nhleko said this was not an easy achievement.
“You will recall the journey we went through to reach this milestone. Our journey with Investors in People started 6 years ago, wherein we achieved different levels of accreditation.”
Nhleko presented the Platinum Plague and allowed it to move around so that the close to 130 members of staff who were in attendance could see it and touch it.
“We are yet to identify an ideal place in our building where this plaque will take its place of pride and be a testament in MTN Eswatini’s history of this achievement,” he added.
He also introduced Gwen Powell, the IIP International Manager who shared her remarks through a video where she congratulated MTN Eswatini for this milestone.
Prime Minister Ambrose Dlamini, who is former MTN Eswatini CEO, declared the company a beacon of hope for other companies, both locally and internationally.
“I am proud and honoured to have been part of the achievement, and equally so as I join you today in this celebration of the IIP Platinum accreditation. Being a Platinum accredited organisation means that MTN Eswatini is a beacon of hope to other organisations in Eswatini and beyond,” he said.
Other Leadership achievements received by MTN Eswatini are; Best Network in the Region, Regional Sales and Distribution Award, Leader of the Year and Best OPCO (Operating Company) in women leadership.
