The authorities in Uganda say at least 13 people may have been killed in a landslide in the east of the country.
The number of fatalities could be higher as homes and crops were swept away by several days of unrelenting rainfall in Bulambuli district, 280km from Kampala.
According to the Uganda Red Cross Society, several homes were swept away and scores of people are still unaccounted for.
Infrastructure such as bridges, schools and other buildings in the affected district have been destroyed.
As a result local communities have been cut off from the rest of the country.
Following over three days of heavy rains the Prime Minister’s Office n Wednesday issued a disaster warning as military personnel are deployed to help in the rehabilitation of victims.
