The doctors were reportedly detained in connection with a wave of anti-government protests which began last month.
On Tuesday, dozens of those arrested were reportedly freed after Sudan’s national intelligence and security chief, Salah Goch, gave the orders for them to be released.
However, the Sudanese Doctors Committee announced a list of doctors still being detained, suggesting that the government’s claim is erroneous.
“They have to be released” it a statement by the syndicate said.
For over a month, Sudanese have been taking to the streets across the country demanding that President Omar al-Bashir steps down.
Bashir in power for nearly 30 years is blamed for Sudan’s increasing economic woes.
According to the opposition at least 3, 000 people have been arrested including political leaders, activists, doctors, students and teachers.
They put the number of people killed at 51, but the government has claimed that 30 protesters had lost their lives.
