At least 30 civilians were killed in a drone attack in the North Shoa Amhara region of Ethiopia, eyewitnesses told APA.
The strike occurred on February 19, 2024 in Mojana district, North Shoa, according to one witness wh said a light ISUZU truck was carrying over 50 civilians returning from church services when a drone hit the vehicle.
Other eyewitnesses said many members of the same family were killed while the other victims were neighbours who attended the ceremony.
Eyewitness accounts also indicate that there was no single armed FANO fighter in the vehicle.
A video footage circulating on social media (credited to ZEMEDE) purportedly showed victims (the image and video is too graphic to share) piling up on the ground from the backside of the light truck.
A recent report released by the Amhara advocacy group indicates that there have been more than 79 drone strikes in the Amhara region since Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed’s government imposed a state of emergency in the Amhara region in August 2023.
