The 36 state governors under the aegis of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, (NGF) have reiterated their commitments towards enhancing the security of lives and property in their states.
Speaking after their Wednesday meeting with the National Security Adviser (NSA), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, where he briefed them on the planned nationwide protest scheduled for August 1st to 10th that has heightened tension in the country, the governors pledged their support for the Nigerian Bar Association and the Attorney Generals of the Federations of the 36 States on Supreme Court ruling on the financial autonomy of local governments.
The communique issued after the meeting said that the governors received a briefing from the National Security Adviser’s (NSA) office on the current security situation in the country.
“The NSA noted the growing momentum for a planned protest demanding government attention. The NSA is committed to supporting the governors in improving security architecture at the subnational level. The governors thanked the NSA and reinstated its commitment to enhance the security of lives and properties at the subnational,” the communique said.
