At least 43 civilians were killed in the latest drone strike in the Amhara region of Ethiopia.
Eyewitnesses told APA on Wednesday that the attack occurred in the South Achefer area of Gojam country.
According to information reaching this news agency, similar drone strikes were carried out in North Shoa, Debre Berhan area of the Amhara region.
On Monday government forces carried out a drone strike in Basosa area – which is about 22 kilometers from Debre Berhan Town. It occurred around 3 p.m. local time, according to eyewitnesses.
In Angolala area, also close to Debre Berhan, Sholamba Primary School was hit. Fano Abdela Indris, one of the leaders of Fano forces in Shoa, has confirmed that one civilian who was near the school was killed in the attack.
The Ethiopian Defense Force has not commented regarding the incident in the Debre Berhan area.
However, it has been making new claims that it is gaining significant victory against what it calls “extremist” forces – a reference to Fanos.
It made claims that Fano forces “are retreating and dispersing.”
The claim does not seem to align with intensifying drone attacks in Gojjam and Shoa.
Meanwhile, there are also reports that the fighting between fano forces and government forces continued in many areas of the Amhara region of Ethiopia.
Eyewitnesses told APA that there was intense fighting near Finote Selam town and in South and North Wollo areas.
