An operation carried out in the Senegalese capital by the Central Office for the Repression of Illicit Drug Trafficking (OCRTIS) led to the arrest of five individuals suspected of drug trafficking.
This followed a suspicious landing at the end of December on the beaches of Dakar.
OCRTIS has carried out a new series of arrests as part of the fight against drug trafficking in the Senegalese capital.
On the night of January 19, 2025, “five individuals” were arrested in Almadies 2 and Keur Massar, between 5 a.m. and 6 a.m.
They were identified as “I. Yatassaye, M. A. Sane, A. T. Diop, A. Ndiaye and M. Sall,” according to a national police statement seen by APA.
The swoop follows “operational intelligence implicating M. A. Sane, alias ADA, who participated in the landing of the drugs seized on the night of December 29 to 30, 2024, at Mbao beach,” police said.
During the intervention, the police seized “two packages of Indian hemp with a total weight of 82.5 kg, a 4×4 Suzuki Vitara type vehicle, and seven mobile phones.”
The suspects were “taken into custody” and the seals stored at the service’s headquarters.
