Abidjan’s 4th bridge, linking the communes of Yopougon and Plateau, was opened to traffic at the end of December, two weeks ahead of the 2023 African Cup of Nations that was held from January 13 to February 11, 2024.
On Wednesday, the Ministry of Public Works and Road Maintenance announced “the official opening of the 4th bridge toll plaza on Monday, July 1, 2024,” with a view to ensuring easy mobility for the population and maintaining the road infrastructure.
The rate for class 1 (light vehicles) is 500 CFA francs, class 2 (intermediate vehicles) 1,500 CFA francs, class 3HGVs/buses/vehicles with 2 or more axles) 2,500 CFA francs and class 4 (HGVs/buses/vehicles with 3 or more axles) 3,000 CFA francs.
With an investment cost of 142 billion CFA, the 4th Abidjan bridge, linking Yopougon to the Plateau, Abidjan’s business centre, was built to relieve traffic congestion in the Ivorian economic capital. The construction of the bridge was launched on July 30, 2018.
