APA-Abidjan (Côte d’Ivoire) The Ivorian Football Federation (FIF) has sent an official request to the French Football Federation (FFF) for the “loan” of Herve Renard, the coach of the French women’s team, in order to finish the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
Following a meeting to decide on this request, the French Football Federation did not accede to the request from its Ivorian counterpart, following the dismissal of Coach Jean-Louis Gasset for “insufficient results.”
Herve Renard is currently under contract with the FFF to coach the women’s team until August 2024. He does not intend to extend his adventure with the Les Bleus women’s team, which means that after the summer, he could be on the Ivorian or Algerian bench.
However, Renard seems interested.
Contacted by Infosport +, he said that “negotiations have not come to a favourable conclusion. It’s just that it wasn’t meant to be. I would have loved to, but fate chose otherwise.”
Hervé Renard won the CAF Africa Cup of Nations with the Elephants of Côte d’Ivoire in 2015 and was crowned champion with Zambia in 2012.
He is being sought by Côte d’Ivoire following their 4-0 defeat by Equatorial Guinea on Monday.
Côte d’Ivoire is the host country for the 34th edition of the Africa Cup of Nations (AfCON 2023).
The country, which is hosting the event for the second time in its history after 1984, has qualified for the
Round of 16 and will take on Senegal on Monday.
