The Super Eagles of Nigeria on Thursday held the Cheetahs of Benin Republic to 1-1 draw in the ongoing 2025 AFCON qualification series.
The match was played at the Stade Felix Houphouet-Boigny, Abidjan, Cote d’Ivore, where the Cheetahs of Benin Republic play their home matches.
The Cheetahs took the lead in the 16th minute of the match through defender, Mohamed Tijani, who headed in the ball into Nigerian net from a corner kick.
The Super Eagles got the equalizer through international striker, Victor Osimhen late in the second half of the match through a header to bring the score line to 1-1.
With this score line, the Super Eagles sealed its top position in Group D with 11 points, while Benin is second with 7 points, Rwanda 5 points and Libya 4 points.
Nigeria will play Rwanda on Monday at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo in the last match of the qualification series.
