APA-Fez (Morocco) The 5th ordinary session of the Supreme Council of the Mohammed VI Foundation for African Ulamas began on Wednesday in Fez, with the participation of 400 of its members from 48 countries.

The three-day session, which will be attended by the presidents and members of the Foundation’s sections in these African countries, as well as members of the Higher Council of the Ulema, will be marked by the presentation of the official report on the Foundation’s activities for 2022 and the summary of activities for 2023, as well as the projects and activities scheduled for 2024.
This is prior to their approval by the Foundation’s four permanent commissions: the Scientific and Cultural Activities Commission, the Sharia Studies Commission, the Commission for the Revitalization of African Islamic Heritage, and the Cooperation and Partnership Commission.
On the sidelines of this meeting, the Mohammed VI Foundation of African Ulamas is organising an official launch ceremony for the “Charter of African Ulema”, the reference document that sets out the doctrinal path and objectives of the Foundation’s Ulema, at the library of the Al Qaraouiyine Mosque in Fez on Friday.
Also on the program is the prize-giving ceremony for the fourth edition of the Mohammed VI Foundation of African Ulamas’ Holy Quran memorisation, recitation and chanting competition, which took place from 10 to 12 Ramadan 1444 in Fez (April 1/3, 2023).
The 5th ordinary session of the Supreme Council of the Mohammed VI Foundation for African Ulamas was marked by the accession of 14 new chapters representing Burundi, Botswana, Congo Brazzaville, Cape Verde, Eswatini, Equatorial Guinea, Mauritius, Lesotho, Mozambique, Namibia, Seychelles, South Sudan, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
The Foundation also has chapters in Angola, Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Comoros, Congo, Côte d’Ivoire, Djibouti, Ethiopia, Gabon, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea-Bissau, Guinea Conakry, Liberia, Kenya, Guinea-Bissau, South Africa, Liberia, Central African Republic, Chad, Kenya, Madagascar, Malawi, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Nigeria, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, Senegal, Somalia, Tanzania, Togo, Sao Tomé, Sudan and Uganda, Chad, Togo, Sao Tome and Sudan.
