Like developed countries, Africa is beginning to rely on artificial intelligence (AI) in order to transform the way businesses are run and societies function. According to specialists, notably Mustapha Zaouni of Morocco, President of Al In Africa, the continent is currently exploring this technological tool to solve pressing problems such as poverty, unemployment and inequality.
Although Africa faces unique challenges, such as disparate internet access, it is gradually embracing AI, said Zaouni, who attended the GITEX Africa Al Summit trade show on the theme of Responsible Generative AI, held from May 31 to June 2, 2023 in Marrakech, Morocco.
While some players taking part in the event, including the heads of OpenAl and Google Deepmind, warned of potential AI-related disaster scenarios, including the extinction of mankind, “others shrugged it off, noting that AI-related fears were exaggerated.”
