Air Canada will soon operate a new route between Ottawa and Kigali, an official source confirmed Monday.
This will be Canada flag carrier’s third non-stop service to Africa, after the previous one to Johannesburg (South Africa) and Cairo (Egypt)
The announcement comes after the Government of Rwanda concluded earlier last week an air transport deal with Canada that allows Air Canada and RwandAir to operate flights between the two countries.
The agreement was endorsed by the Rwandan minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr Vincent Biruta and his Canadian counterpart Mélanie Jolie.
Air Canada currently flies to 200 destinations, across the globe.
Flights are also timed to optimize connectivity across Air Canada’s network and an expanded codeshare cooperation with RwandAir will also allow Air Canada customers to conveniently connect to several points in Africa, it said.
