In a note, the airline Air Côte d’Ivoire has announced that it will resume flights to Niamey on Saturday March 2, 2024. These flights will operate every day of the week, which should boost trade between the two countries.
Depending on the day of the flight, there will be Monday-Wednesday-Friday traffic on the Abidjan-Niamey-Ouagadougou-Abidjan route. Tuesday and Thursday will see flights on the Abidjan-Ouagadougou-Niamey-Abidjan route, while Saturday and Sunday will see services on the Abidjan-Niamey-Abidjan route.
The national airline Air Côte d’Ivoire suspended its flights in August 2023 after the Ivorian government called for a halt to all commercial and financial transactions with Niger, in accordance with sanctions imposed by Ecowas.
The Heads of State of the Economic Community of West African States (Ecowas), meeting in Abuja on 24 February 2024, decided to lift the sanctions against Niger with “immediate effect,” on humanitarian grounds.
