David Hale encouraged the authorities ahead of the upcoming polls, including the 2020 presidential election to overhaul the Independent Electoral Commission of Cote d’Ivoire (CEI).
“We must ensure that all institutions are strengthened, that all those who have the right to be registered on the electoral list are indeed registered,” he insisted, deploring the “violence, irregularities” during the precedent polls.
This visit to Cote d’Ivoire of the American diplomat comes against the backdrop of fierce debate on the 2020 presidential poll.
Speaking Monday, on Radio France Internationale (RFI) about his possible candidacy to the polls, on President Ouattara argued: “It is very clear. I can run if I wish.”
