Large numbers of the Libyan people have taken to the streets on Friday condemning Turkey plan to send troops to Libya to prop up the authorities in Tripoli on the request of the internationally backed government.
People from the cities in the east, west and south of the country condemned what they called Turkey’s planned invasion to Libya and confirmed their readiness to challenge it unreservedly.
They also announced their support for the Libya national army and theirrejection to any foreign intervention in the internal affairs of the country from an outside source or organization, affirming their total concern for national unity and work to restore the independence and sovereignty of their bedeviled country.
The Turkish parliament on Thursday endorsed by a majority a motion to deployed troops to Libya in accordance with a military memorandum of understanding signed between Tripoli and Ankara on December 27th.
The Foreign minister of the Accord Government, Mohamed Syala expressed to his Turkish counterpart Moulod Tshoush Ouglo his thanks after his country’s parliament approved the motion to deploy troops in Libya to support the internationally backed government against forces of what remained of the Libyan National Army under Khalifa Hafter.
Tripoli has been under siege since April as Hafter’s forces launched wave after wave of ground and air attacks to seize the Libyan capital.
There has been a military stalemate over the last eight month.
