The 39th Luanda International Fair (FILDA) opens its doors on Tuesday in the special economic zone of Angola’s capital, Luanda.
According to organisers Grupo Arena, this year’s event, running until July 28, focuses on international trade and has attracted over 1,300 Angolan companies and 254 from 18 countries across Africa, Europe, America and Asia.
FILDA is Angola’s premier trade fair, showcasing the country’s potential in various industries.
This year’s theme, “Food Security and International Partnership: The Binomial of Economic Diversification,” highlights sectors such as agriculture, forestry, fisheries, and marine resources.
The fair will feature the Angola-Portugal business forum that is expected to be graced by Portuguese Prime Minister Luís Montenegro.
There will also be a “Macau and Portuguese-speaking Countries” event.
Grupo Arena chairperson Bruno Albernaz says FILDA offers investors from Angola and around the world a platform for business-to-business exchanges.
“International entrepreneurs want to get to know the real Angola in a practical and simple way,” Albernaz said in a statement.
He added: “At FILDA, that’s exactly what we offer – a space that shows the country as it is, with its real potential and concrete opportunities where the hundreds of Angolan companies present showcase all their experience and capacity to establish solid and future partnerships.”
An agreement is expected to be signed between the Industrial Association of Angola and the Portuguese Business Confederation.
FILDA provides a platform for international investors to explore partnerships and understand Angola’s strategic plans, regulations and public programmes, especially recent developments like the Lobito Corridor railway and the new Dr. António Agostinho Neto International Airport in Luanda.
This year’s edition aims to surpass last year’s numbers, which saw 75,000 visitors and exhibitors from 10 countries.
