Players of Rwanda’s first division side AS Kigali are in high spirit after their thumping 6-nil win over Comoran outfit Olympique de Missiri in the second leg qualifier of the CAF Confederations Cup over the weekend.
Sources say the confidence of the club’s players is running high going into the next round of the competition.
Pierrot Kwizera netted the opener in the 25th minute before Ramadan Niyibizi and Aboubakar Lawal scored the second and third goal respectively, all in the first half.
The home side’s dominance continued in the second half with Shaban Hussein adding a fourth eight minutes after the restart.
Denis Rukundo and Abeddy Biramanira scored two more goals in the 60th and 90+5 minutes respectively to seal a comfortable win for AS Kigali.
The Rwandan outfit had secured a 2-1 win the first leg in the Comoros.
AS Kigali will play the second round against DC Motema Pembe of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
Last season, AS Kigali were eliminated by CS Sfaxien of Tunisia in the third round of the CAF Confederation Cup.
The 2019 Peace Cup champions are taking part in the continental tournament for the third time following their debut in the competition in 2001.
