Abdallah Mohamadi, a Mauritanian journalist and writer, on Sunday October 23, signed, his book with the title: “Temoins des Temps, des Amities sur les Chemins de la presse” (Witnesses of Time: Friendships on the Paths of the Press), on the sidelines of the fall session of the 43rd edition of the International Cultural Moussem of Assilah, Morocco.
The 170-page book, which was first edited last August in Beirut, Lebanon, recounts the connections of the writer with a group of journalists he met during his career, which began in the 1980s.
Prefaced by the journalist Iyad Abou Chakra, the book includes accounts of the friendships Abdallah Ould Mohamadi made with journalists from different countries around the world. These include Robert Fisk, Othman Al-Omair, Sadamori Daiji, Qusai Saleh Al-Darwish, Kim Amor, Bashir Al-Bakr, Dominic Derda, Abdelwahab Badrakhan, Sidi Al-Amin, Sami Kulaib, Habib Mahfoud, Mohamed Boukhazar, Mohamed Lachhab, Abdelaziz Dahmani, and Hatem Batioui.
“This book is a testimony of friendship to several journalists, which I consider a generation disappearing at a time when the press was at the height of its glory and prestige,” said the Mauritanian writer to the press.
The author already has several books to his credit, including “Tombouctou et ses Sœurs : Ruines de Villes de Sel et Lignes (Timbuktu and its Sisters: Ruins of Salt Cities and Lines” (2009); “Journal d’un journaliste en Afrique” (Diary of a journalist in Africa) in 2013, “Les Oiseaux du Printemps” (Birds of Spring) in 2017 and “Le Maroc et l’Afrique : Vision d’un Roi” (Morocco and Africa: Vision of a King” in 2022.
