APA-Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) At least 70 civilians have been killed in drone attacks in Fenote Selam town in Ethiopia’s Amhara regional state after more than 2700 of the federal troops reportedly surrendered to the ‘Fano’ force in neighboring Bure town.
Fierce fighting is going on between the Fano fighters and the national defense force, which has lost all the battles for the last four months after it entered into the region to disarm the Fano fighters.
The Ethiopian air force also on Sunday carried out the drone attacks in Bure town and killed an undisclosed number of civilians and injured several others.
In a recent statement, Minister Government Communication Service Legesse Tulu confirmed the death of civilians in a raid on Bahir Dar, capital of the Amhara regional state. The regime’s forces also massacred over 400 civilians in the historical neighboring town of Gondar.
Over 50 million inhabitants of the region are expressing their fear for more atrocities in the region as the federal government, which is made of ethnic Oromos, continues the drone attacks on civilians.
The recently established Amhara Popular Front (APF) has made a call for immediate action from the international community, holding Abiy Ahmed’s regime accountable for war crimes.
The APF urged the United Nations, the African Union, and other global bodies to vociferously denounce this ongoing genocidal campaign against the Amhara people. The need for swift intervention and condemnation cannot be overstated, as the well-being and survival of an entire population hangs in the balance.
The APF also appeals to international allies, including influential nations such as the United States and the European Union, to take a stand against these grave transgressions.
