The African Union and Ethiopia on Monday expressed condolences over the deadly terrorist attack at a concert hall in Moscow.
A group of gunmen stormed Crocus City Hall on the evening of March 22, killed the guards, opened fire on visitors, and then started a blaze, which quickly spread through the building.
At least 137 people including three children have been confirmed dead, RT news reported Sunday citing Russia’s Investigative committee. And 180 other people were also injured.
The AU Commission chairperson Mousse Faki Mahamat called the attack “horrific” in a message posted on social media following the attack.
“Our deepest condolences to the bereaved families and in solidarity with the people & Government of the Russian Federation following this heinous attack that we condemn in the strongest terms,” he added.
Ethiopia too “condemns the barbaric and heinous terrorist attack against innocent civilians,” its Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement
The Ministry has conveyed heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims as well as the Government of Russia.
“Terrorism is a grave danger to mankind and requires the concerted effort of countries around the world to prevent such loss of life,” the ministry said.
It added: “Ethiopia stands in solidarity with the Government and People of the Russian Federation in this difficult time and it can count on Ethiopia’s full support in the fight against terrorism.”
Per RT’s report, the Russian Security Service has detained 11 people including all four terrorists that carried out the attack.
