The Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Moussa Faki Mahamat has welcomed the signing of the Constitutional Document of the transitional period by the Transitional Military Council and the Forces for Freedom and Change in Sudan.
“This development lays the foundations for a democratic transition with a civilian-led government and is an important achievement for Africa in its desire to solve its own problems,” said the Chairperson in a statement on Monday.
The Chairperson also took the opportunity to congratulate the political actors, civilian as well as military, who have overcome their differences by placing the country’s interests above all other considerations.
He further urged all bilateral and multilateral partners to redouble their efforts to provide Sudan and its transitional authorities with the necessary support during this key phase of the country’s history.
