The project, located in the Kolda region, will be the largest of its kind in West Africa.
The solar plant, coupled with a 72 MWh battery storage system, will provide clean and reliable energy to 235,000 people in the Casamance region. This significant investment underscores the growing importance of renewable energy in Africa and the region’s potential to become a global leader in clean energy.
The financing for the project was provided by the Emerging Africa & Asia Infrastructure Fund (EAAIF), the Netherlands Development Finance Company (FMO), and Deutsche Investitions- und Entwicklungsgesellschaft (DEG). This collaboration between public and private sector lenders demonstrates the increasing appetite for sustainable infrastructure investments in Africa.
AXIAN Energy’s commitment to promoting renewable energy in Africa is evident through this project. By investing in clean energy solutions, the company aims to contribute to a more sustainable future for the continent.
