Bolloré Transport & Logistics won a tender to transport six of the 18 transformers planned.
From February 26 to March 30, 2022, Bolloré Transport & Logistics Benin teams ensured the transport of six electrical transformers with a total weight of 464 tons intended to equip several thermal power plants in Benin.
This operation was carried out on behalf of GE/GRID Solution, a local subsidiary of General Electric, as part of the Compact II program represented by the Millennium Challenge Account (MCA).
Shipped by container from Turkey, the equipment was received at the port of Cotonou before being transported by road over a cumulative distance of 887 km. Of the six transformers, two were transported to the Vèdoko site and two others to the Maria-Gléta site, while the last two models were each delivered to the sites of Bérécingou, 700 km away, and Bohicon in the Zou department, 135 km from the capital.
This exceptional project was carried out with Bolloré Transport & Logistics Benin teams specialized in the transport of heavy packages and in several other areas of activity (logistics, customs, handling, etc.) in order to safely organize the convoys of cargo to the various sites and to ensure their perfect integrity throughout the journey.
“This operation to transport a batch of six transformers was carried out successfully and mobilized the know-how of all our experts at every stage until final delivery. It reflects our ability to implement solutions and means adapted to our long experience to respond effectively to complex logistical challenges in various growth sectors such as energy,” said Pierre Ngon, General Manager of the Benin-Niger Cluster of Bolloré Transport & Logistics.
Bolloré Transport & Logistics was selected following a call for tenders to ensure the transport of six transformers out of the 18 planned, as part of the Comptact II program, essentially devoted to the energy sector. It is represented by the Millennium Challenge Account (MCA), a fund designed to accelerate Benin’s growth and reduce poverty.
