The government of Benin has recently released its budget bill for 2020, which amounts to CFA1,986.910 billion, representing an increase of CFA109.367 billion, compared to the previous year.

In relative terms, this corresponds to a growth rate of 5.8 percent.
Benin expects a growth rate of 7.6 percent, a budget deficit of 1.8 percent of Gross Domestic Product and a controlled inflation rate.
For the next year, the government of President Patrice Talon will prioritize the continued operationalization of the development poles, the acceleration of the implementation of ongoing projects, mainly aimed at setting up a wide network of fiber optic in the country and the availability of high and very high speed Internet.
In addition, Benin intends to enhance its tourism potential, build infrastructure to promote culture and pursue actions to modernize the road network and living environment.
With regard to the management of public finances over the 2020 to 2022 period, the government will focus on the modernization of structures, the simplification, automation and dematerialization of procedures, as well as the reinforcement of human resources.
The aim is to strengthen the fight against tax fraud and tax evasion.
