The company has invested €500,000 (approximately FCFA 320 million) to equip its four existing cranes with Spreader Control Unit (S.C.U) technology. This advanced system streamlines container movement, boosting the productivity of the quayside cranes.
In addition, Benin Terminal has purchased two brand new spreaders, already equipped with S.C.U technology, from renowned manufacturer Bromma. These acquisitions will enable rapid remote fault diagnosis, leading to faster vessel operations and improved overall terminal efficiency.
The Port of Cotonou is now the second port in the region, after Abidjan, to deploy this innovative technology. Torbjorn Fridlund, an engineer from Bromma, highlighted the benefits of the system, stating, “With this system, the company is breaking new ground in terms of ease of maintenance, data analysis, and remote monitoring of breakdowns.”
Fabrice Ture, Managing Director of Benin Terminal, expressed satisfaction with the new technology, emphasizing its role in modernizing the port’s operations. “This innovation, which will speed up our operations and optimize our processes, is part of our investment program aimed at modernizing and developing the activities of the Port of Cotonou,” he said.
